Bonny‘s paintings reflect her love of heartwarming American folk art, and scenes that speak of her appreciation of growing up in California.
Born the third of three sisters, November 5, 1960 at Ramey US Air Force Base, Puerto Rico.
Her father, an avid scuba diver, gave Bonny seashells that she cherishes to this day.
She lived briefly in Louisiana and then Arkansas (her parents home state) .
In 1965 they were stationed at Travis Air Force Base and lived in Vacaville California. Bonny began to paint at 11 years old and was encouraged by a retired missionary, Mrs. Perry, who lived across the street. Mrs. Perry would have Bonny and others come over and exposed them to many different art projects. She entered Bonny’s first painting in the Solano county fair.
In 1976 Bonny attended Fairfield beauty Academy, and received her cosmetology license while finishing up high school.
She moved to El Cajon with her sister Phyllis in 1979, Where she met her first husband, David Rochester
.
Bonny began selling her art in 1992 at The Country Folk art shows and Harvest festivals.
Being a mother of four children, her art reflected love of family, home life, gardens, quilts, and animals.
She focused on American Folk Art style, kind of a combination of Grandma Moses and Norman Rockwell, and Courier and lves wrapped into one.
Bonny and David with their four children traveled all over selling her paintings and limited edition prints.
They even operated an art gallery out of Old Town, San Diego for three years.
They owned a coffee house in Mission Valley for seven years where they roasted their own coffee, sold Bonnys art, made pastries and catered events. It was a change the whole family enjoyed, but it was very hard work and the hours were long.
Bonny lost touch with her art clientele working at the coffee shop, but they all treasure the memories of working together. .
Sadly, David went home to be with the Lord June 9, 2013.
When you lose your dearest love it changes you forever.
Trying to stay active and alive, she kept doing the art shows, but without the same vigor.
Her paintings from that time on reflect a new era.
The Lord is so good, Bonny remarried to her dear friend Donald Nuzzo and became Bonny Nuzzo February 14, 2015💕
She and Don live near the ocean in Solana Beach.
This has inspired her to paint scenes from around California that are dear to her heart.
Her husband Don is a talented musician and music producer. He has encouraged her immensely to keep painting and grow as an artist.
Love makes creativity bloom.
